Story behind the Music

This is a scrumptious and back-to-basics fusion salad of Latin and Indian percussion well marinated in the enchanting Indian Raag Bageshri. It is drenched with passionate and raw vocals to create that perfect blend of a sexy and chilled out evening vibe.

 

The song will make you sit up and pay attention. The music will make you groove, shake you body to the rhythm. By the end of it, having bathed in the sensual energy, you would be humming and asking for more. That's the magic of Abracadabra.

Abracadabra is a very special song for us. It is fire, it is magic, it is romance, it is growing energy. It's a fusion of classic rock with Indian classical sounds and percussions. The divine magic of Love and Music inspired us to create this song. An amazing amalgamation of two diverse cultures viz. Spanish and Indian resulted in this magical composition. We couldn't help but name it Abracadabra.

 

My friend and colleague in our musical journey, Cheyca Parker worked with me remotely, in the midst of the global context that we go through currently, to create this magical piece of music.

On the journey to discover myself, I stumbled upon the idea of the self and with that, reinforced my acceptance of the self. This germinated the seed of self-love in my thoughts and actions. Self-Love, something which is very important and often ignored. And as I learnt to accept and love myself, I was never the same again, in the way I see the universe, people, myself and love.

 

A wonderful collaboration with Ollie Vera, a talented musician and lyricist, this song is a musical summary of the journey to self-love. Loving the universe. The people. Myself. I love me.

As an experiment to traverse canvases, this composition is a transcription of my thoughts and emotions evinced while interpreting a painting by Katha Kirti. As I swim through the colours of this painting, I see myself getting lost in the woods, only to find my way home.

Through this composition, I seek to take help of the colours of music to paint a journey from home, to home.

Poetry has always been closer to my heart. Something that I resonate with emotionally, whether with a rhyme or a blank verse. The words always give a loving rhythm to my heart and I cannot help but dance with them, imagining a background score to it. And taking that choreography further, I have tried to interpret and weave musical notes with poems to create a vision of love.

Ek Cheel is a powerful and beautiful poem penned and narrated by Katha Kirti. This poem perfectly captures the journey of our self discovery, acceptance and ultimately finding our own voice.

This song is based on a poem I had woven based on some recurring thoughts on particularly inspiring day, and recurring still. Thoughts of the universe, life, music, magic and love. All intertwined to create a rainbow.

 

And as the colours converged, I realized that they were a tempest of creative energy, a tempest of positivity, a tempest of love, tempest of singularity. A tempest of the universe and a tempest of me. 

 

So, what does your weather report tell you today?

As the 2020 virus scene put majority of the humans under a lockdown, our 'regular routines' went for a toss with the time perception returning back to a circle rather than being linear. And through this composition, I tried to capture the sleep seeping into the dreams and dreams manifesting to reality.

This is a composition based on a journey I had recently, and keep having everyday as I traverse through life. A journey to Light, through the tunnels of fire and wisdom.

As my footsteps slip, as they find a new foothold, reaching higher ground of knowledge, I travel closer towards myself, towards the light. Towards love. Witnessing a paradigm of the eternal.

This is based on a decade old poem I had written while exploring my being. The words took shape effortlessly and evolved maturely over time. The chords just played themselves with the words and the riff just presented itself when the time was right. This is one of the initial compositions that just flowed through me as I was exploring myself.

And here they are, moulded in a song befriending the path I have embarked on.
 

This is one of my initial compositions and super close to my heart. One composition where I have tried to weave the notes with my interpretation of love. And as my understanding of this universal source of energy evolves further, the composition manifests with time.
